4The absence of circular symmetry with enhanced brightness at the equatorial regions of the sun. The cause is the high temperature of the corona relative to the inner atmosphere of the sun.

6Optical radiation in the Milky Way is absorbed by dust particles in the interstellar medium. The dark bands in the Milky Way arise from this dust (size about one micron). At radio frequencies the dust is completely transparent.
